Dear substitute teacher:

Thank you very much for substituting my Computer Science classroom. My students, in general, are well behaved, but if you observe any misconduct please don’t hesitate to report the student(s) to the support services staff.

My preparation class starts at 8:00 and ends at 8:52 am ( 52 minutes ).

You can prepare by using my computer with the following:  username (student), password (student) making sure that the login box marks "This computer".

Please open an Internet browser and type in the address bar: http://www.ccahs.net, which is the César Chávez Website. Then go to academics on the left part of the page , and look for "Computer Science". Once you have Mr. Moreno's Webpage, click on Computer Science I. Follow down near the end of the page, and find the "substitute lesson plans".  Please follow the directions.

My 1st Hour: starts at 8:56 and ends at 9:48 am ( 52 minutes class ).

You can begin this class with some anticipatory guides that you will find in the sub folder (Scramble Computer terminology), which is the same link of: http://people.emich.edu/gmoreno/scrambled3.html. I will also provide you with the answer key. Give the students 18 minutes to complete this, and have them type their answers in a word document, which will be saved as "CompScramble2"; then give them the correct terminology. After that, you will tell the students to open the following site at: http://people.emich.edu/gmoreno/Culminating/Scavenger/Index.html or distribute the reading material to the class (Internet Scavenger Hunt). Students must read individually.  Give them about 18 minutes for this process.  After that, give them an opportunity to aswer the questions at the bottom of the web page.

Following this, they will be using the word processor (Microsoft Office 2003). Students will be answering the questions from the scavenger hunter in a word document at the same time while reading the instructions for the activities. They could probably spend about 16 minutes on this. Please check the written part and be sure that they use the spelling and grammar tools. They will be saving their outcome in their own documents. During the last five minutes please be sure that they leave all of the computer equipment in good condition (mouse, keyboard, monitor, cables, hardware, etc.).

My 2rd Hour is from 9:52 to 10:44 am ( 52 minutes class ).
Second hour is exactly the same. Just repeat the procedure from the first hour. As you know, this period of time is the same as the first hour, so if the students couldn't finish the assignment today, they can continue doing the assignment the next day.

My 3rd Hour from is 10:48 to 11:40 pm ( 52 minutes class ).

Third hour is exactly the same as the first hour. Just repeat the procedure from the first hour.

My lunch is from 11:44 to 12:12 pm ( 28 minutes lunch ).

My 4th Hour is from 12:16 to 1:08 pm ( 52 minutes class ).
Fourth hour is exactly the same as the first hour. Just repeat the procedure from the first hour.

My 5th Hour is from 1:12 to 2:04 pm ( 52 minutes class ).
Fifth hour is exactly the same as the first hour. Just repeat the procedure from the first hour.

My 6th Hour is from 2:08 to 3:00 pm ( 52 minutes class ).
Sixth hour is exactly the same as the first hour. Just repeat the procedure from the first hour.

All the students have their own account in their computers, be sure that they save their work in a microsoft word document.

Thank you very much and I hope you have a wonderful day.
